Daily Questions #23: 10/25/22

Today, I’ll be introducing a new type of question: the estimation question! You’ll have to estimate a geographical number. Don’t just look these up and copy and paste; that just hurts you, and it’s pretty obvious! (To keep things fair, for now this doesn’t count for getting a guest DQ set. I still encourage you to try these out, as you’ll see them more in competitions as well as our practices!)

  1. Estimate the height of the highest mountain in the continental United States, in feet.
  2. Estimate the distance between the capitals of the United States and Canada, in miles.
  3. How many people live in Shanghai? Estimate to the nearest million.
  4. How many US states have a high point below 1000 feet?
  5. What is the surface area of the Caspian Sea? Estimate to the nearest square mile.
